About us

New school courtyard.

The opening of the new North Leamington School (NLS) in September 2009 represents the fulfilment of our long-term vision to locate all our students together on a single site and to create an inspiring context for 21st-Century learning. The design concept for the new NLS is that of a university campus, with separate buildings for each faculty: Maths and Science; Humanities and Languages; Design Technology and Engineering; Sports; the Performing Arts (Dance, Drama and Music); the Sixth-Form Centre, known as 'The Hub'. Built within the green belt at a total cost of £32 million, the new school incorporates a mass of environmentally-friendly features and state-of-the-art facilities. Importantly, these facilities, from the sports centre and the floodlit all-weather surfaces to the 400-seat theatre, also provide a much-needed resource for the local community, enabling NLS to operate effectively as an 'Extended School'.

At the time of writing (May 2009), NLS has 1210 11-18 students on roll, including 310 in the Sixth Form, but the new school's capacity is 1500, with a planned admission level of 240 per year. We have developed a varied, relevant curriculum throughout the 11-18 age range and have greatly enriched this with an exceptional programme of extra-curricular activities. We have established a vibrant culture at NLS as a Specialist Performing Arts College and we are very proud of our status as an Investors in People School, an International School, an Eco School and a Healthy School, viewing all these awards as key aspects of an authentic 21st-Century school. We strongly believe that Every Child Matters Equally and are totally committed to enabling all our young people to enjoy learning, to achieve success at NLS and to become positive global citizens of the future.
