Our specialism

Introductory Statement

Our understanding of the place of the Arts in this secondary school is that they provide the main vehicle for promoting all students' creativity, imagination and self-expression, and that, as such, they inspire creative teaching and learning across the whole curriculum.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to create a thriving regional centre for educational excellence and innovation in the Arts, vigorously promoting the Arts as a source of lifelong creativity and enjoyment for all members of the community.

In pursuit of this, we will:

• maximize standards of provision, participation and achievement in the Arts throughout the school
• promote the Arts as creative teaching and learning tools across the whole curriculum
• extend and enrich the Arts throughout the local family of Primary and Secondary schools
• provide access to the school's Arts facilities and specialist team skills as a resource for the local community
• develop a regional network of Arts groups, Arts organizations, Arts education providers and Arts-related business interests dedicated to active sharing of ideas and expertise and to joint coordination of activities and opportunities

Aims

School Aims (SA)
SA1 To improve students' examination performance in the Arts
SA2 To increase uptake in specified Arts subjects; to extend opportunities within the Arts and, through the Arts, to enhance the use of technology across the curriculum and to develop the learning environment.

Community Aims (CA)

CA1 To raise standards of learning in our partner Primary Schools through the Arts; to support and extend learning through the Arts in our partner Secondary Schools
CA2 To provide a variety of Arts opportunities within the wider community
